Written for Heather McCowen, this two movement work for solo piano is a tribute to hope, reminding one that while sometimes things are dismal, there is always joy for those who seek it.

 

The second movement focuses on the driving motivation and finding of joy that comes with pursuing hope. The musical inspiration comes from a summer bike ride.

Go and Do Good Things: 1st Movement

Written for Heather McCowen, this two movement work for solo piano is a tribute to hope, reminding one that while sometimes things are dismal, there is always joy for those who seek it.

 

The first movement focuses on the mundane and tragic, inspired by walking through negative conversations and remaining silent.

Tu Ayem (pronounced "two a.m.") is a flute composition about a composer writing a flute piece at two O'clock in the morning. Incidentally, this piece was written between the hours of one and three in the morning.

The Lamp (excerpt)

This work was written as a musical representation of a lamp, and is divided into four sections, each corresponding to physical sections of the lamp. The Lamp was composed upon request by the Firlie Family String Quartet in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was premiered in February 2009.

A Mistake

"A Mistake" was written for the two fabulous flutists, April Wooley and Forrest Ransburg, and was premiered in Chicago in April 2010. The piece is an experiment with minimalist ideas, based on material the composer never initially intended on using.
